Choice-led Support
At the Center for Independent Living, we believe in the importance of choice-led services. But what exactly are choice-led services? It is a concept built on the foundation that individuals with disabilities should be able to choose the kind of support they receive, and how it is provided to better align with their own goals.
Choice-led services put individuals at the center of their own journey. It is rooted in the powerful principle that people should have the authority to make their own informed decisions about their lives. Ultimately, everybody’s goals, needs, and form of independence look different. This approach avoids the confinement of predetermined paths, giving each person an individualized level of support. With choice-led support, you gain empowerment through deciding for yourself what is right for you, because independence starts with choice.
At the Center for Independent Living, choice-led support guides everything we do. Through programs like Family Disability Navigator, we work alongside disabled individuals by providing tools and guidance while ensuring they remain in control of their choices.
The way choice-led services differ from more traditional models and service structures is in prioritizing personalization over standardization. Choice-led services allow for a more flexible form of support that centers on the person themselves.
The Center for Independent Living uses choice-led services to equip individuals with the information, resources, and advocacy they need to navigate systems while maintaining control over their own decisions.
